America Recycles Day is November 15

Tuesday, November 15, is America Recycles Day – a national initiative to encourage recycling and local recycling events.

Millennium Waste Incorporated is committed to increasing sustainable operations and has developed cost-effective recycling programs for residential and commercial customers to encourage recycling and preserve natural resources.

So Millennium supports the national initiative America Recycles Day and challenges everyone to take a step towards being more environmentally friendly.

Local and national efforts are making a difference – today the Environmental Protection Agency reports that Americans recycle about 34 percent of the waste they create. That’s not bad and it’s much better than the 6.2 percent recycling rate from 50 years ago.

Let’s continue this good trend.

On America Recycles Day, let’s all take a minute to challenge ourselves to take one action that may lead to better long-term recycling habits.

Here are some ideas:

  • Learn about recycling in your community. Millennial offers convenient recycling services for residential and commercial customers.
  • Learn what can and can’t be included in your curbside recycling and what items have to be dropped off at other locations.
  • Buy bulk rather than individually wrapped items. You will probably save money and you will surely use less packaging material.
  • Check out recycling options for light bulbs containing mercury, computer equipment, and batteries. It’s all recyclable and can’t be placed in the landfill. Local businesses that sell these products often have in-store recycling services.
  • Use reusable shopping bags rather than plastic bags provided at the checkout. Put them in your car to use for every shopping trip.

Check out America Recycles Day website for more ideas about recycling.
